MADELEINE OLSEN

My story
I remember what it felt like to be a teenager and an athlete—constantly trying to keep it all together while feeling like no one really understood what was going on inside. That experience shaped my passion for helping teens feel grounded, empowered, and truly seen for who they are, not just what they accomplish.

Hi there! My name is Madeleine Olsen, and I am a California registered associate marriage and family therapist (AMFT #153354) and associate professional clinical counselor (#18794) practicing under the supervision of Ashley Hudson (LMFT #83507).
Where it all began...
I approach therapy from a relational and client-centered perspective, which means I see our work together as a partnership. You’re the expert on your life—and I’m here to walk alongside you with curiosity, authenticity, and care.
I’m especially passionate about working with teens and young athletes.
As a former athlete myself, I understand the pressure to perform, the anxiety that can come with competition, and the challenge of finding your voice in high-pressure environments. Many young people struggle with perfectionism, fear of failure, and the belief that their worth is tied solely to their achievements.
In therapy, I help teens slow down, connect with their emotions, and learn practical tools to stay grounded and confident—both on and off the field. Together, we focus on progress over perfection and rediscover joy in the process.

I earned my M.A. in Marriage & Family Therapy from Chapman University and have received specialized training in EMDR. I also integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy—always tailoring my approach to meet your unique needs and goals. My clients describe me as calm, genuine, and approachable, and I work hard to create a space where you feel comfortable being fully yourself.

Some of the areas I enjoy supporting clients through include performance anxiety, perfectionism, identity development, life transitions, and reconnecting with your inner voice. I believe therapy is a place to explore your story, process what feels heavy, and build the confidence to move forward with clarity and self-compassion.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to begin, I want you to know you don’t have to go through it alone. I’m here to support you every step of the way.

When you’re ready to take the next step, reach out to our intake coordinator we’d be honored to support you on your journey.
