DELFINA ALCANTAR

My story
I became a therapist because I’ve always been drawn to people’s stories and what helps them heal and grow. I’m especially passionate about supporting teens and high performers who silently struggle, helping them feel seen, supported, and more connected to who they truly are.

Hi there! My name is Delfina Alcantar, and I am a California registered associate marriage and family therapist (AMFT #153718) practicing under the supervision of Ashley Hudson (LMFT #83507).
Where it all began...
People carry so much—especially when they’re expected to look like they have it all together. Whether it’s school, sports, family, or the constant pressure to perform, life can feel overwhelming. For teens and young adults, it’s easy to lose sight of who you are beneath all the expectations. Therapy is a place to lay it all down, take a breath, and start making sense of what’s really going on inside. It’s a space where healing, clarity, and personal growth become possible.

My goal as your therapist is to create a space that feels safe, honest, and supportive. I believe that change happens when we feel seen and understood—and when we’re given the tools to move forward with confidence and clarity. I use a collaborative, individualized approach to help clients explore who they are, challenge the thoughts or patterns keeping them stuck, and reconnect with their sense of self.

I’m especially passionate about working with teens, young adults, student-athletes, and high performers who often feel like they have to “hold it all together.” Having competed in both gymnastics and cheerleading, and later working with Division 2 college athletic teams, I understand the emotional and mental toll that competition, perfectionism, and identity struggles can take. I love helping young people rediscover who they are beyond the roles they play and feel more grounded in their worth.

I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from California Baptist University and have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed care, and attachment-based therapy. I’ve worked in community mental health and crisis response, and I support clients facing anxiety, low self-esteem, relational challenges, and life transitions.

In the therapy room, I show up as a real person; warm, approachable, and genuine. I’ll meet you where you are, walk alongside you, and help you find your voice again. Healing is possible. You don’t have to go through it alone.
